Some of the tablets may have different additional ingredients (for example preservatives). This does not change the effectiveness of the treatment. Some people find anastrozole produced by one manufacturer seems to suit them better than another. Like any drug, anastrozole can cause side effects. Everyone reacts differently to drugs and some people have more side effects than others. What is a price concession?
As part of the margins survey each year, an exercise is conducted to calculate the financial impact of concession lines on contractors throughout the year. Data is gathered for all items which have been on concession and the financial impact of these lines is calculated and accounted for in the final margins survey result. The calculation also considers any discount deduction (‘clawback’) applied to reimbursement of concession lines and any wholesaler surcharges paid by contractors. If an independent contractor selected in the survey sample purchased a drug at price higher than the final price concession, this will be picked up by the margins survey. This is then factored into the overall retained margin survey result and is off set against any excess margin made on other sampled drugs. On the contrary, if the price concession is higher than the contractor’s actual purchase price, any margin earned will count towards the community pharmacy’s overall retained margin allowance of £800m per year.
Taste changes usually get better after treatment finishes. You will have blood tests to check how well your liver is working. This treatment can cause your eyes to feel irritated. Tell your doctor if you notice any problems with your eyes or eyesight. Doing regular exercise, such as walking, can improve your bone health. Your doctor may prescribe drugs called bisphosphonates to help protect your bones.

Letrozole is usually used when you have been through a natural menopause. However, if you have recently been through the menopause or are having treatment to stop your ovaries working (temporary menopause), there is still a very small chance you may become pregnant. You may gain weight when you are having this treatment. Eating healthily and being active can help you keep to a healthy weight. Your doctor, nurse or a dietitian can give you more advice. If this happens, tell your doctor so they can give you painkillers.

It’s a very common side effect of breast cancer treatment and may affect you physically and emotionally.
Vaginal bleeding can happen in the first few weeks after starting anastrozole. It most commonly occurs when changing from one hormone therapy to another. If the bleeding continues for more than a few days, tell your specialist. You may develop a skin rash while taking anastrozole. This usually goes away when your treatment finishes.
